Science

We had our butterflies hatch from their chrysalides this past week! The kids have been filling out diagrams and drawing pictures of the caterpillar/butterfly development. We learned from an Insect lore booklet that the caterpillar waste is called frase. We also watched a YouTube clip about what is happening inside the chrysalis... Basically, the outer skin of the caterpillar turns very hard and crispy, while the inside dissolves and then reforms within about 1 week time span to form a whole new digestive system, wings, antennae, etc. Very amazing! https://photos.app.goo.gl/G48yH4y1iiU1cMRr7
